Kanaka Durga temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh is perched on top of the Indrakeeladri Hill on the banks of River Krishna. There is a mention of the temple and its presiding deity in the sacred texts including the ones like Kaalika Puraana and Durgaa Sapthashati.
There are several legends associated with this temple including the one which believed that Vijayawada was once a rocky region, unfit for cultivation, the hills obstructing the flow of River Krishna. On invocation of Lord Shiva, the hills made way for the river to flow unimpeded through tunnels.
