Margasira Masam is the 9th month in the Hindu calendar. The month got its name after Mrigasira Nakshatras/star when coincides with the full moon day of the month. The month is also known as Agrahayana which is considered as the month of the equinox. The meaning of Agra is elder and that of Ayana is transition/travel.

In Hindu Calendar, there are two methods to mark the lunar month. In one, lunar month is marked from Purnima to Purnima (known as Purnimanta calendar) and in other lunar month is marked from Amavasya to Amavasya (known as Amanta calendar).
Margashirsha month in North Indian calendars begins on November 24 and ends on December 23, 2022.
Margasira Month in Marathi, Gujarati and Kannada calendar is similar to Telugu Calendar.
