What is Hora Chart:
According to Indian astrology, a horoscope is prepared at the time of the child’s birth. Depending on the time and the positioning of planets, each hour is of utmost importance.There are 16 types of divisional charts and these are known as Shodashvarg Kundalis. However, there are a few astrologers who prepare six types of charts known as Shadvarg Kundalis.

This Hora chart is divided into two parts.It has two Langnas/Rashis that are Leo and Cancer.All the first 15 degrees of male Rashis (Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius & Aquarius) come under Leo. Also, the next 15 degrees come under Cancer. Instead, all the first 15 degrees of female Rashis (Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn & Pisces) come under Cancer and the next 15 degrees come under Leo. From a Kshetra chart (with the degrees of all the planets including Lagna), it is easy to find out a Hora Lagna and the position of all the planets.
Allocation of Points as per the planets under Hora Chart:
- 5 points to the exalted planet (only Jupiter will get this if it is placed in Cancer Hora).
- 4 points to a planet, which is the Lord of the Hora (only Moon will get it if it is placed in Cancer Hora, or Sun will get it if it is placed in Leo Hora).
- 3 points to a planet placed in a friend’s Hora (Rashis).
- 2 points to a planet placed in neutral Hora.
- 1 point to a planet placed in the enemy’s Hora.
- 0 points to a planet placed in debilitated Rashis (only Mars will get it if it is placed in Cancer Hora).
- The presence of male planets in the sign of LEO is a positive indicator. (JUPITER, MARS, and SUN)
- The presence of female planets in the sign of CANCER is a positive sign. (Venus and the Moon)
- It’s a good sign if five or more planets are in the CANCER sign.
- A negative is when five or more planets are in the sign of LEO.
- It’s a good if the Lord of your D1/Lagna Chart is deposited in the 2nd or 1st house of your HORA chart.
- The Lord of your D1/Lagna Chart in the 12th house of your HORA chart is a negative.
- The Lord of the 2nd house of your HORA chart is a negative if he is placed in the 1st, 5th, 8th, and 12th houses of your HORA chart.
- It’s a good if the Lord of the 2nd House of your HORA chart is deposited in the 2nd and 11th houses of your HORA chart.
- The placement of many or all planets in the 12th house of your HORA chart is a negative.
It is a plus if many or all planets are deposited in the 2nd or 1st house of your HORA chart.
All people are born either on Hora of the Sun (Daytime) or the Hora of the Moon (Night-Time). Moreover, the strong planets in the Hora of the Sun includes Sun, Venus and Jupiter whereas in the Hora of the Moon the stronger planets are Moon, Mars and Saturn. To add further, in the case of Mars and Jupiter in Cancer Hora, they will not get any point for being in a friend’s Hora. One has to double the points if planet/Lagna is in the same type of Rashi (male/female) & reduce the points to half if planet/Lagna is in the other type of Rashi (male/female).
Thus, through this study, astrologers can derive which Hora is more powerful. If the 2nd House is powerful in the case of a Cancer Lagna in Hora chart, the native will accumulate or earn good wealth. If the 12th House is powerful in case of a Leo Lagna in Hora chart, the native will experience financial constraints. It may so happen that both the Rashis/2nd House/12th House are equal in points. In this case, the native will not make a lot of money but will maintain what he/she inherits.
Importance Of Hora Chart:
Sunday: ravivara is ruled by the Sun, a harsh, cruel planet. Unlike Mars, Sun is harsh and cruel in order to purify the soul of ignorance so the truth can shine through. Career enhancement activities, Sun bathing, health focus, sports, government paperwork and taxes, authority figures.
Monday: somavara is ruled by the Moon, a soft benevolent planet. This is the best day for social activities, public relations, a family get together sharing food, especially with mother(s). Friday: sukravara is ruled by Venus, a soft benevolent planet. Venus – romance, emotions, therapy, social life, family outing like a picnic, going for a leisurely car ride, sensory or sensual experiences, the arts, entertainment.
Saturday: sanivara is ruled by Saturn, a harsh, cruel planet. Saturn – organizing, getting rid of old, useless, worn out objects, shopping for antiques, garage sales, business chores, house cleaning, yard work, paying bills, taking care of responsibilities, weight lifting, dog training.
How do you see a hora?
There are 12 parts of 1 hour each from sunrise to sunset. Similarly, there are 12 parts from sunset to sunrise. In this way, we get 24 Horas. In the calculation of Hora of a day, the first Hora of that day will be of the day lord and the next Hora will be of 6th day from the day lord.
How to study Hora Chart:
Every day of the week, namely Sun-Sunday, Moon-Monday, Mars-Tuesday, Mercury-Wednesday, Jupiter-Thursday, Venus-Friday, and Saturn-Saturday, has its own planetary Lord. Because each Hora is dedicated to a different planet, there are a total of seven Horas. Sun Hora, Venus Hora, Jupiter Hora, Moon Hora, Mercury Hora, Mars Hora, and Saturn Hora are the signs of the zodiac, respectively.Hora is a time measurement unit.
A day is divided into 24 Horas, each of which lasts approximately one hour. This, however, can be adjusted because it is based on the whole period from one Sunrise to the next.From dawn to sunrise, there is both day and night. There are two key aspects to this time period. Day Horai or Daytime (Din Maan) runs from sunrise to sunset, and Night Horai or Night Time (Ratri Maan) runs from sunset to sunrise the next day. Because the time of sunrise and sunset is continually changing, the duration of Din Maan and Ratri Maan is also changing. There are 12 Horas in a day and 12 Horas in a night. In this way, the duration of Day and Night is divided into 12 equal halves, each of which is divided into 12 horas.The Day Lord is the first hr of a given day, the Day Lord is the second hora of the day, and so on. After that, the cycle would repeat itself till sunrise the next day.
For example, if today is Sunday, the first hora will be of the Sun, the second hora will be of the 6th day lord, Venus, the third Mercury, the fourth Moon, the fifth Saturn, the sixth Jupiter, the seventh will be of Mars, and so on. After the next day’s sunrise, the first hour would begin in the same way.
